The three weeks of Denise Wallat's stay in Zurich were characterized by inspiring conversations, exciting professional insights and many enriching encounters:
„I was a guest of Prof Dr Christoph Halbig and his postdoc Dr Muriel Leuenberger, who gave me a very warm welcome. I am particularly grateful for the opportunity to present my PhD project at Prof Halbig's colloquium. The appreciative feedback and further suggestions from the participants of the colloquium gave me important impulses for my further work. The exchange with Muriel Leuenberger on the topic of my dissertation and the question of the connection between language, identity, narratives and the possibility of harm through words was also extremely stimulating and inspiring for me from a professional point of view.
The exchange with theological social ethics at the Ethics Centre was also very beneficial. I was able to participate in the ongoing research seminar of the chair of Prof. Dr Michael Coors and to get to know the open, interested and extremely friendly team.
A personal highlight of my stay was the exchange with Prof Dr Pierre Bühler, who did his doctorate under Gerhard Ebeling and worked as his assistant for many years. As my dissertation deals with Ebeling's theology, it was very interested to discuss his theology with Prof Bühler. Meeting such a profound expert on Ebeling's work was really stimulating and in many ways clarifying for my own research questions.
In addition to these academic highlights, I also took part in the workshop series "Gender and Technology" organised by the Digital Society Initiative (DSI), in which central themes of our Bonn Chair of Social Ethics were reflected upon from a decidedly feminist and gender-theoretical perspective. I also attended this year's BrainFair at the University Hospital of Zurich, which focused on language and the brain.
My stay in Zurich was also a great experience away from the university. In particular, the short distances to the surroundings of Zurich and the Swiss Alps were a welcome change and made my stay in Zurich a special experience for me.
I am very grateful that I was able to spend this intensive and varied time in Zurich. The many professional inspirations and personal encounters will remain with me for a long time to come!“
