Social Ethics

An intense debate is currently taking place on the changing of cultural values and ethical benchmarks relevant to the state and the legal systems, pluralistic society, biomedicine and education. It is important to rethink our values - freedom, tolerance, justice, sustainability - and to further develop our traditional norms within a contemporary context.

Bonn is fortunate to have had renowned representatives of Protestant ethics as members of the faculty. Particularly noteworthy are Richard Rothe (1849-54) and Ernst Troeltsch (1892-1894).
