Get to know Carla
Carla Spielmann is a doctoral researcher at the Department of (Social) Ethics. She works on the Gemini research project, focusing on socio-ethical issues surrounding the use of digital twins in the medical field.
In her dissertation, she asks about feminist conceptions of the subject in the context of identity politics. More specifically, she examines the tension between social determinism and free self-determination, focusing on the role and function of reflective capacity.
Carla Spielmann studied Philosophy, French, Political Science and Sociology at the University of Bonn. During her studies she was nominated for the Honors Programme of the University of Bonn. In September 2023 she received a Forum Humanum scholarship from the Udo Keller Foundation to attend the annual autumn workshop at the New School for Social Research in New York City.
During her studies, Carla Spielmann worked for the Institut Français in Cologne and as a tutor and research assistant at the Department of Philosophy at the University of Bonn.
