Get to know Andrew

Andrew J. Barnhart is a Research Fellow at the Department of (Social-) Ethics.

Previously, he was a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Research Fellow and Doctoral Researcher at the Centre for Biomedical Ethics and Law at KU Leuven in Belgium. During his studies, he was part of the Horizon 2020 International Training Network and Consortium, OrganoVIR: Organoids for Virus Research. His focus was on exploring the various ethical issues and considerations of organoid models in biomedical research.

Andrew also has experience in designing and teaching courses of Introduction to Philosophy, Ethics, Biomedical Ethics, Symbolic Logic, and Human Ecology at Frederick Community College in the United States.

In his current work, Andrew explores both ethical issues and embodiment with digital twins in precision medicine contexts. His research is supported by the European Research Council under the SIMTWIN project, led by Prof. Dr. Matthias Braun.
