Jeremy Tan Chuan Leng
PhD student
Jeremy Tan Chuan Leng is a PhD student supervised by the Chair of Practical Theology (Prof. Dr. Sabrina Müller), Faculty of Protestant Theology, University of Bonn. His doctoral research seeks to discern a lived theology of Christian identity that fosters flourishing among local Malaysian Christians living as a minority amidst the sociopolitical pressures of contemporary Malaysia.
Methodologically, the study is framed by the conceptual approach of lived theology and employs qualitative research methodologies such as interviews and Grounded Theory. The lived theology approach in this study is conceived as a hybrid subset of practical theology and contextual theology. Identity as it relates to flourishing will be investigated empirically and theologically in conversation Scripture, tradition and Asian theologies, and supplemented by insights from sociology.
