Molly Brummett Wudel
PhD student
Molly Brummett Wudel is a PhD student at the Chair of Practical Theology (Prof. Dr. Sabrina Müller), Faculty of Protestant Theology, University of Bonn. Her doctoral research investigates the role of sharing power within the preaching moment through the practice of dialogical preaching, with a particular focus on the lived experiences of faith communities. The project builds on her previous work on dialogical preaching: what it is, how you do it, and why it matters, as well as the questions and curiosities emerging after a decade preaching in this way. Methodologically, the study is grounded in qualitative research and Grounded Theory. Within this framework, Molly fleshes out what transformation and liberation looks like for communities collectively preaching dialogically. She brings together embodied perspectives and empirical data across dialogical preaching communities, theory, and theologies decentering and pushing against traditional understandings of power to unearth this preaching form’s impact.
